Build your reputation. Your network. A community. An audience. A side hustle. Place many bets instead of just one. Become anti-fragile. Take matters into your own hands. Direct your own fate.

Rely on yourself, not on others.

Don’t be at the mercy of corporate shareholders. Don’t buy into the “we are family” mantra at work. Don’t believe it when they say, “You’re safe with us.” No one really is—not even the person saying it.
